The GWM business was established in 2000 in Geneva, Switzerland, originally as a multi-family office and private wealth manager.
GWM launches a Multi Strategy Fund of Hedge Funds, raising over USD 500m across internal and external clients.
GWM’s first fully institutional fund had an initial reported NAV of ca. EUR 1 billion and a multi-asset strategy with ca. 50% of capital earmarked for the real estate debt and equity strategy.
Since 2013, GWM has acted as the operating partner and asset manager for investments made alongside large international institutional investors.
In May 2015 the wealth management and multi-family office business was spun off. Since then, GWM has focused only on institutional alternative investments, fund and asset management, and distressed debt.
In November 2017, GWM launches the Growth Fund investing in M&A driven and hard catalyst situations.
In 2018 GWM launches Italian Real Estate Special Situations (IRESS) / Fund II.
GWM raised over USD 630m from major institutional investors from the US, Asia and Europe to invest in Italian opportunistic real-estate related investments with a primary focus on non-performing mortgage-backed loans and other real estate special situations.
In 2020 GWM launches Commercial Real Estate Debt Opportunities Fund (CREDO).
CREDO is GWM’s dedicated platform to invest in the European real estate private debt market.
In May 2021, GWM launches a dedicated Merger Arbitrage Fund following the strategy began in 2017 and integrating ESG perspectives into the investment decision process.
Fund III will aim to continue GWM’s successful track record of investing in opportunistic real estate assets in Europe and Italy.
